There was a birthday surprise in store for David Beckham’s son Romeo this week as he watched his dad’s team LA Galaxy in California. As the footie ace held the little boy up on his knee to allow him a better view of the action, a message flashed up on the stadium screen to mark the youngster’s special day: “Happy 5th birthday Romeo!”

In the month of August, the Queen will celebrate her 80th birthday. Since 1917, birthday messages had been sent out by the Royal Household on a regular basis to centenarians. Last year, 4623 messages were sent.
Special birthday greetings
Occasionally, messages
have been sent to well-known or unusual recipients, perhaps the most
famous of which was Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who received an
official 100th birthday greeting from her daughter in 2000. Comedian
Bob Hope received a private message from The Queen on his 100th
birthday in 2003 whilst the former ballerina Dame Ninette de Valois
received a message wishing her ‘a very happy day’ in June 1998.

Aug 9 is Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh hailed as “historic” the decision of the UN to declare Gandhi’s birthday International Day of Non-violence.
“His message had a global relevance and continues to do so in our troubled times,” the Prime Minister said the UN decision to declare his birthday, October two, was “historic and universally welcomed. We are grateful to all those who supported us in this endeavour”.

The BoxHappy Gift blog wrote an article about their best seller gift - The Message in a Bottle. Indeed, message in a bottle sounds so conventional but still project the personal touch. Why not roll your special birthday card, write a memorable message, and then put it in a bottle. If possible, deliver the bottle wet.

There is a great article posted at Pollen Nation about choosing the right flowers for birthday.
Flowers can convey a very personal birthday message – and create an
impression that’s remembered long after the candles have been blown out.

Matt turned 21 June 25. As his birthday approached, Janet wanted to
send a gift, but there was no news of where her son’s unit was based.
So she wrote her son a poem to praise his job well done and encourage
him for the times ahead.
A Poem for Matt
These days grow long it seems to me,
as I wait for your return.
I try to work and live my life
with minimal concern.
I know you trained so very hard with
confidence and pride,
but feeling so removed from you
brings sadness I can’t hide.
So many other families have
felt these feelings, too.
I’m not alone by any means
so this is what I’ll do.
The families with nothing
who invite you in for tea.
The Children who are use
to playing soccer in bare feet.
You learned to do without the basic needs
you’ve always known,
but shared your gifts and treats we
all were sending you from home.
Oh I have seen a change in you
that others may not see.
A purpose in your life that comes
from being a Marine.
The politics may continue
to be challenged years to come,
but I can say with all my heart,
I’m proud of you, my son!

Marvo wrote a review about Uncooked, an online store selling all sort of greeting cards. Their design are normal graphically, but extremely creative on the printed messages. If you don’t know what to write on greeting card, pay them a visit. You will find great ideas by browsing through their cards design.
For full review by Marvo, refer Uncooked
Here is the summary of his review:
Item: Uncooked
Price: $3.25 per card
Purchased at: Uncookedland.com
Rating: 4 out of 5
Pros: Twisted funny cards. Free envelope. Cards for almost all occasions. The day I get to burn my box of “Stuff to Burn Later.†Auto-reverse cassette player technology.
Cons: Expensive for tightwads, but cheap for those who truly care about the card’s recipient and think money is trivial in terms of showing how much they care. Having to pay for shipping. Lack of capitalization. Nauseating, overly-poetic, badly-written greeting cards.

Try to answer this question:
1. Did you receive any help from the person? Tell the person that you are grateful.
2. When is the last time you guys get together? What did you do together? Remind the person your feeling at that special moment.
3. What did you do for the person on the last year’s birthday? Remind him that you remember what you did for him and what he had done for you on your birthday.
4. What have you done especially for that person? Remind them that you care so much about them.
5. Tell the person what reminds you of him/her.
6. Write something encouraging
7. You can send the to the person’s family instead of the person himself. Tell their family how kind he is!
I hope that the above questions can provide you some guidance on how to write a memorable birthday message.
